The partnership between Tegemeo Cereals Enterprise and 2SCALE seeks to build resilience among 20,000 Sorghum and pearl millet smallholder farmers in the semi-arid counties of Tharaka Nithi, Makueni, and Kitui. It also aims to develop affordable and nutritious biofortified sorghum and pearl millet-based products for an estimated 10,000 low-income consumers in arid and semi-arid regions.
The development and promotion of biofortified sorghum and millet-based foods will not only contribute to food and nutritional security but will also ensure that farmers diversify their market beyond the brewing market to food and feed processors.
