About the partnership

Four producer organizations (New Face Cooperative Farmers’ Group, New Generation Farmers’ Cooperative, Real Image Farmers’ Cooperatives and Harmony Farmers’ Group) are working together to expand production and sales. The partnership connects farmers to technology and service providers and local processors making soybean oil and soy-based cheese and condiments.

Achievements

Build capacity of producer organizations and aggregators in post-harvest management

Set up warehouses and outgrower management system

Facilitate business planning to help farmers access credit

Build business capacity of producers, especially in budgeting and gross margin calculations

Promote the use of Rhizobium inoculants in collaboration with N2Africa

Targets:

Involve 15,000 smallholder farmers (including 3,200 women) and 45 small and medium enterprises (12 women-led) by 2017.

Market Segments:

Soy-pap, soy-cheese and condiment for soup sold on local markets. Grand Cereals soybean cooking oil, distributed in shops and supermarkets. Tom Brown (AACE Foods) for supermarkets.
