About the partnership

RECO Industries is a leading processor and buyer of soybeans and other crops, and is expanding capacity. The partnership will create market opportunities for large numbers of smallholders through supply contracts with RECO, complemented by training, extension support and links to service providers, enabling them to meet volume and quality requirements.

Achievements

Build technical capacity to increase productivity, strengthen farmers’ institutions, link farmer groups to new markets

Raise awareness on soybean products in food products and animal feed, and in the value of soybean as a rotational crop to control Striga weeds

Help producer groups access affordable financial products

Conduct marketing studies for soya products, implement awareness campaigns focusing on affordability and nutritional benefits of soya

Targets:

Involve 20,000 smallholder farmers (7,000 women) and 15 small and medium enterprises by 2017.

Market Segments:

Currently, BoP market for soybean products, specifically malnourished children in public hospitals. RECO industries will progressively develop other brands target other segments.
