Over the past two years, 2SCALE has leveraged financial technology to better support program partners, SMEs and smallholder farmers. Helping to link them to financial suppliers like Agri-Wallet and achieving impact on both input and output markets.
After a successful first pilot with Agri-Wallet in Kenya in 2018, during which 2,758 farmers and 46 input merchants signed up and used the application, 2SCALE recently established a more formal collaboration with the fintech company. Agri-Wallet is an innovative mobile application that assists farmers to save money. It has been tailored specifically for the agricultural sector. The application not only helps farmers to set aside funds, but also ensures that the funds are invested in agricultural inputs.
The FiniAward is a recognition of the commitment of 2SCALE in making access to finance easier for vulnerable groups such as smallholder farmers, local small-scale entrepreneurs, the youth as farmers and/or agri-entrepreneurs, and women involved in target value chains.
