Aya is a 6-month entrepreneurship track for women in agribusiness in Ghana, which kicked-off with a webinar on September 6th. Going through 3 phases of inspiration, training and coaching, we hope to contribute to empowering the current, and next, generation of female-led agribusinesses in Ghana, and follow the path of webinar speaker Catherine Krobo-Edusei: “Overcome the fear and don’t let it stop you - Fear in itself will not result in anything positive”.
The start of the inspirator phase, the webinar, focused on “5 strategies for women to succeed in agribusiness”. During the webinar we shared key lessons and success stories from successful female agri-entrepreneurs in Ghana and other African countries, to illustrate the key strategies to women empowerment. These strategies were further enriched by interviews and Q&A’s with 2 Ghana agri-entrepreneurs, Harriet Roberta Osei, Co-director of Oserby Unique Ventures and Catherine Krobo-Edusei, CEO of Eden Tree. A recording of the webinar can be found here.
436 people, of which 408 women (mostly Ghanaian) registered and made the webinar a great and interactive success, also because of the collaboration with other organizations. More specifically, CAMFED, an organization supporting entrepreneurship with young Ghanaian women, provided webinar centers (in Accra and Tamale) and on 3 university campuses, bringing together 139 of their alumni.
The next phase of Aya will focus on selecting and training 45 female agri-entrepreneurs to improve and professionalize their business models. For more information and registration for the training please visit the
aya website.
